The Shins es el grupo de música del compositor, cantante y guitarrista James Mercer, formada por Jesse Sandoval (batería), Marty Crandall (teclados/guitarra/bajo) y Dave Hernández (bajo/guitarra) bajo el sello discografico Sub Pop (famoso por ser el primero en contratar a Nirvana o Soundgarden). Su música se podría describir como Indie rock, pero manejan varios estilos, como pop, rock alternativo, country o folk.
